Investing in Our Future

Building stronger communities and a stronger cooperative

At Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative, our commitment to community extends beyond the present—it is a continued investment in the future of the people and places we serve. Through workforce development, strategic partnerships and infrastructure planning, we are working to ensure long-term reliability, growth and opportunities across our service area.

One of the most meaningful ways we invest in the future is by supporting education and workforce development initiatives. GCEC is proud to contribute to the BBIA Scholarship Home. Donations from several Bay County businesses help fund the building of these homes, so when they are sold, proceeds are used to fund scholarships for students who want a career in the construction industry. By supporting this effort, we are not only investing in new homes, but in the skills, education and future careers of students involved.

Advocacy also plays a critical role in protecting and strengthening the communities we serve. Our team recently participated in the Legislative Cookout and Rural Counties Days in Tallahassee, joining fellow electric cooperatives from across Florida. During these events, we met with lawmakers and shared the unique needs of rural communities, ensuring our members’ voices are heard. By working together with other cooperatives, we help advocate for policies that support reliable, affordable energy and continued economic growth.

Equally important is the investment we make in our employees. Ongoing training ensures our team is prepared to safely and effectively serve our members. From lineworker training and forklift certification to advanced Aclara system training, our employees are continually building the skills needed to adapt to new technologies and industry standards. This commitment to professional development not only enhances safety but also strengthens the reliability of the service we provide every day.

Looking ahead, GCEC remains focused on maintaining a resilient and forward-thinking energy infrastructure. Through partnerships with organizations like PowerSouth Energy Cooperative and continued system improvements, we are preparing for future growth and increased demand. These efforts help ensure we can continue delivering safe, reliable power to our members for years to come.

Each of these initiatives reflects our dedication to progress—not just for today, but for future generations. Whether we are supporting students, advocating for rural communities, investing in our workforce or strengthening our electric system, Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative remains committed to building a brighter future for all.

Because at the heart of everything we do is a simple principle: Investing in our future means investing in our people.
