Connecting With Our Communities
From patriotic celebrations to hands-on learning, Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative enjoyed a summer filled with opportunities to connect with members across our service area.
Community involvement is about more than keeping the lights on—it’s about building relationships with the people and communities we proudly serve. Throughout the summer, GCEC employees participated in several community events, giving members and families an opportunity to learn more about the electric cooperative while enjoying fun, family-friendly activities.

Our team kicked off the celebrations by participating in Calhoun Liberty Credit Union’s 250 Years of Freedom Party and Tyndall 325th Force Support Squadron Freedom 250 Fest. Employees enjoyed meeting members, answering questions about GCEC’s programs and services, playing cornhole and handing out patriotic giveaways.
Events like these provide valuable opportunities to visit with members outside the office and share information about products and services that help improve safety, reliability and energy efficiency.
The community outreach continued at the Mossy Pond Public Library’s Touch-a-Truck event, where children and families had the chance to get an up-close look at one of GCEC’s bucket trucks. Lineworkers demonstrated equipment, answered questions about their jobs and even let children climb into the insulated bucket to experience what it’s like to work high above the ground. The interactive display gave young visitors a glimpse into the important work performed by lineworkers every day to safely deliver reliable electric service.

GCEC donated a copy of “Cat and Duck,” an electrical safety book for children, to the Mossy Pond Public Library to help educate young readers about staying safe around electricity.
As part of the event, GCEC also donated a copy of “Cat and Duck” to the Mossy Pond Public Library. The children’s book helps introduce young readers to electrical safety through engaging characters and storytelling, reinforcing the cooperative’s commitment to educating the next generation about staying safe around electricity.
Whether celebrating our nation’s history, supporting military families or inspiring future lineworkers through hands-on experiences, Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative is proud to be an active part of the communities we serve.
