GCEC Recognizes the Outstanding Performances by Employees While Honoring the Memory of Former Employees

Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative (GCEC) recently recognized three employees for their exceptional contributions with awards named in the honor of former employees. Sheila Alston, military affairs assistant, received the Tomica Lowery Memorial Award; Teresa Chase, collections representative, received the Alfredia Owens Member Service Award; and, Timmy Wade, supervisor of operations in Wewahitchka, was presented with the Tony “T-Bone” Turner Hustle Award.

When selecting a recipient for the Tomica Lowery Memorial Award, management looked for an employee who demonstrated the appreciation for fundamental human needs of fellow employees; who communicated clearly with co-workers; and who increased organizational commitment demonstrated by employee satisfaction, enjoyment at work, and lowering absenteeism and stress.

The Alfredia Owens Member Service Award was presented for providing a high quality of service to members; getting along well with fellow employees; demonstrating empathy and compassion to members, and integrity and honesty; keeping members, the general public and employees safe; and serving as a role model to others through positive interactions.

The Tony “T-Bone” Turner Hustle Award recognizes an employee with a sustained work and productivity record; exceptional efficiency; superior performance and dedication; who keeps members, the general public, and employees safe, and serves as a role model to others through positive interactions.

GCEC also awarded service pins to employees and trustees, including Carl Elmore, 45 years; Manuela Heyn, 25 years; Dale Marshall and Ken Newsome, 20 years; Robert Byrd, Chris Pippin and Harold Ruth, 15 years; Doug Birmingham and Hal Walden, 10 years; Teresa Chase, Ron Groom, Josh Harbuck, Brett Satterfield, Andrew Taylor, Colby Wiggins, and Megan Whitfield, one year.
