Newsome Retires After Decades of Service

Ken NewsomeKen Newsome recently retired after 22 years of service to the cooperative.

Ken was hired on April 19, 1999. For two years, he worked as a bucket truck operator, was a foreman in the rights-of-way department for eight years, and was a service technician for 12 years.

While employed at Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative (GCEC), Ken also served as a logistics coordinator with FloridaOne Disaster Medical Assistance Team.

Before coming on board at GCEC, Ken served in the Navy for six years. He also held sales and management positions with various companies and was a general foreman with Asplundh Tree Expert Co.

Ken says that helping others was his favorite part of working at the co-op. During his retirement years, he looks forward to traveling and spending time with his wife, father, and pets.
