Francis Hinson

Chief Operating Officer


Hinson is responsible for the day-to-day management of overhead and underground construction/maintenance of the electric distribution system. He is also responsible for overseeing the cooperative's safety program, engineering department and military affairs division.


Hinson previously worked for PowerSouth Energy Cooperative for 26 years, where he was responsible for the oversight and management of the Chipley district office, including daily operations, work scheduling, right-of-way, resource allocation, substations and transmission lines. In 2012, he came to GCEC as Manager of Operations and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2015. In 2016, he was the first recipient of the Tomica Lowery Memorial Award, which recognizes an employee who appreciates fundamental human needs of fellow employees; communicates clearly with co-workers; and increases organizational commitment, which encompasses employee satisfaction, enjoyment at work and lowering negative efforts, leading to lower absenteeism and stress.
